**NOTE** This mod is broken -- only works for World in Conflict prior to Update 10 (pre Soviet Assault) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you remember the good old days of beta, demo and the retail release, before all the balancing changes took place? Remember when playing Assault felt like playing quarterback in a fast-paced football game, when command points did not spawn with fortifications in place? And perhaps you also remember when Heavy Anti-Air vehicle was able to drive faster, and heavy choppers were able to mow down AA's easily or AA's were able to kill helicopters with ease, depending on which side of Air vs. Support debate you were coming from. Well, now you can use a time machine and enjoy the good old days! Introducing The Good Old Days Mod :D This mod aims to undo most, but not all, of balancing changes that were officially made by Massive, returning most of gameplay mechanics back to where they were originally. The mod only reverses game balancing changes back to 2007 values ONLY -- anti-team stacking measures and bug fixes, map balancing changes and UI improvements are left in place. The changes undone by this mod have been authentically made as much as possible, recreating how the game used to be like exactly back in mid 2007. Here is the list of changes on this mod that will turn the time machine back to our good old days. Reversed Balancing Changes from Updates 1 through 3. 1. Command points on assault map will no longer spawn with fortifications to encourage steamrolling. 2. Movement speed for Heavy Anti-Air Vehicle is now accelerated by 8%. 3. Increased direct damage and armor piercing for USSR Heavy Artillery back to values used during the 2007 open beta. 4. Decreased recharge time for Medium Artillery special ability by 50%. 5. The cost for Airdropped Unit Light Tank Tactical Aid has been decreased. 6. The recharge time for all Airdropped Unit Tactical Aid has been decreased. 7. The view range for Airborne Infantry has been increased. 8. Air Role feedback sound is now played when Offensive Special Ability order is delivered instead of given. Reversed Balancing/Changes from Updates 5 and 6: 1. Repair Tank Emergency Repair special ability recharge time decreased by 33%. 2. Repair Tank repair speed at maximum experience level increased by 25%. 3. Heavy Anti-Air Vehicle turret rotation speed reduced by 50%. 4. Heavy Anti-Air Vehicle view range and fire range reset to what it used to be back in Update 4 and older versions of the game. 5. Reduced cost of the Laser Guided Bomb Tactical Aid for all roles. 6. Heavy Attack Helicopter fire range and special ability fire range reset to what it used to be back in Update 4 and older versions of the game. 7. Heavy Attack Helicopter rocket accuracy reset to what it used to be back in Update 4 or older versions of the game. 8. Napalm cost decreased for all roles. 9. Light Tank cannon damage reduced slightly. Changes which were NOT reversed and left alone: 1. TA and Score nerfing for Repair Tanks has been left untouched. Most people tend to agree that repair score/TA-gain nerf was a preferable balancing change across the board. 2. Medium Anti-Air units behave same as in Updates 6-8. 3. Fire-rate for USA and NATO Heavy Artillery unit has been left untouched. 4. The target area for Air-to-Air strike Tactical Aid has been left untouched. 5. Score given when Heavy Anti Air vehicle is killed is left untouched, to not discourage armor players from killing AA units. 6. Aerial Recon Tactical Aid cost and recharge parameters have been left untouched. It is generally understood that most air players fly with scout helicopters now to see through smoke screens. However, if there is popular demand for this to be reversed as well, I can do that. 7. Heavy Artillery Strike Tactical Aid has been left untouched. 8. Heavy Air Support Tactical Aid cost has been left untouched. Updated Tactical Aid Changes: 1. Adjusted NATO faction's Air-to-Air strike Tactical Aid so that target lock-on and deployment times are consistent with that of USSR.
